Challenge - Kids in the Kitchen

There are many reasons for teaching kids to cook, but in our home, the most important reason is that it's a great way to spend quality time with your kids! We also feel that we're giving them a better chance to be healthy grown-ups. Enabling your child with the ability to appreciate freshness and to transform ingredients into tasty foods opens their eyes to making wiser choices about what to eat.

Your challenge this week is to create a layout about kids in the kitchen. It can be a kids recipe, photos of kids helping cook, about your first memory of cooking, whatever! Anything goes!

Here are my girlies wearing their new chefs jackets from their Dad. Aren't they cute? :-D

Here's one I did after Thanksgiving. The little girl is the daughter of a coworker of my husband. She just LOVES helping in the kitchen, especially washing dishes! :-O

In case you haven't forgotten that I started out this post with all the healthy reasons to cook with your kids, let's just throw that out the window for a minute. Sometimes, you just have to have sugar! This is my 13 year old making up her very own creation. Sort of. She started off wanting to make Tollhouse cookies, but as we had some of the peppermint Hershey's kisses around, she came up with Mistletoe Cookies.

There will be a random draw for a small RAK from me for anyone who uploads their creation to the Creative Cookbooking gallery by midnight, January 23rd. (Sorry, DT, I would LOVE to see your creations, but y'all are not eligible to win the RAK this time.)

So, let's see those kids in the kitchen! Happy scrapping!
